When I was a teenager, there was a family that would come over to our house to visit. They had several young children (more than three) who could destroy a house in just a matter of minutes. I’m not proud of it, but my brothers and sisters and I had a name for them – “The H.W.’s” (Home Wreckers)!
.
I distinctly remember one night shortly after the H.W.’s arrival to our house. I walked around the corner into a bedroom and witnessed one of our “young guests” putting the pronged end of a fork into an electrical outlet. Almost simultaneously I saw a puff of black smoke emit from the outlet, heard a loud crackling sound of electricity and witnessed a young electrician running down the hall screaming bloody murder!
Paul exhorts us to put down our “electrical forks” and be spiritual HOME BUILDERS NOT HOME WRECKERS when he says, “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:1-3).
