Young Adults / CollegeSteve Sikes![]() Steve and Patti Sikes Supporting Scripture:"Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 'For in Him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, We are His offspring. Acts 17:22-28 " Purpose:This ministry exists to provide spiritual and social interactions for our young adults. A ministry to this age group is the natural outgrowth of the successful ministry developed by our youth group leaders. Young adults without children have unique freedom, unique schedules, and unique needs. Growing churches are very intentional in their outreach efforts to young adults in their twenties. Research in church growth indicates that the ability to retain young members in this age group is crucial to the growth and development of a congregation. Now that God has given us a number of young adults between the ages of 18 and 30, we have the opportunity to nurture them and their acquaintances. We also hope to eventually develop ministries on local college campuses. Responsibilities:
Note:Young Adulthood is a very special time. It is a time when many are searching for: their own faith; their own place in life who they want to be and become; what they personally believe; what occupation(s) to pursue; where to live; whether to marry or celebrate singleness; lifes' meaning; etc. WHAT AN EXCITING TIME! This ministry is dedicated to encouraging all those in this particular life-cycle stage to continue seeking and developing a personal relationship with God, while conjointly, helping others along their spiritual journey as well! The richest life-long friendships are those where Jesus is actively in the center (Col 1:17) holding all things together. If you are a young adult, we urge you to please join us in relevant Bible studies, future service projects, out of the ordinary retreats, fun gatherings, and fellowship that is geared to be for your best eternal interest! Young adulthood is meant to be celebrated -- come celebrate with us! |
