Purpose:

This ministry exists so that groups of our members can safely travel together to church activities and enjoy good fellowship in the process. Because of this service, adult members who are reluctant or unable to drive themselves to area-wide activities have been allowed to participate. The church vans provide our shuttle service on Sunday mornings and have also proved to be indispensable to our youth group.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the church vans.
  • Keep church-owned vehicles licensed, insured, and inspected in a timely fashion.
  • Periodically clean the exterior and interior of the vans.
• Make recommendations to the elders when a van needs to be replaced.
• Oversee the shuttle service on Sunday mornings. Secure drivers for the shuttle service before and after both services on Sunday mornings. Brian Kleineweber is currently coordinating the Sunday shuttle service between the offsite parking lot at Jannettis's and the church building.
• Coordinate transportation for all members and visitors who need rides to and from church.
• Oversee the van drivers.
• Maintain a list of approved drivers.
• Oversee the driver certification process so that drivers will comply with insurance requirements and passengers will be safe.
• Arrange for the reimbursement of those drivers who pay for gasoline and tolls on church trips.
• Maintain a schedule so the van will be available to those who have reserved it.

Note:

This ministry helps us serve Christ by serving our members and our guests. Just think of all the things that we do which involve either the church van or a charter bus:

• Body Life: Transporting adults and teens to retreats
• Caring and Sharing: Feeding the needy in Trenton
• Childrens' Activities: Transporting teens to Neighborhood Bible Fun Time
• Local Evangelism: Providing transportation for members and guests who want to attend church
• Membership Involvement: All-church trips to the Sight and Sound Theater in Lancaster
• Teens: The youth groups' TIME team trips

Even when we charter a bus, the church van often tags along behind with the overflow crowd.

We have been blessed with church growth, so we have outgrown our parking lot. We are fortunate to have a generous business owner in our neighborhood, Anthony J. Jannetti, who allows us to use his parking lot. The church van shuttles people back and forth between Jannetties' and the church parking lot every Sunday morning.
