Supporting Scripture:

"(Christ), from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.  Ephesians 4:16 "

Purpose:

This ministry exists so that our church can maintain a joyful, family-like fellowship even as we grow larger. The deacon responsible for this ministry coordinates social and spiritual activities that are designed to bind us together in love and to provide non-threatening opportunities for others to fellowship with us. These activities serve to deepen relationships between long-term members and also help to assimilate the newer members of our congregation. These outings have proven to be an excellent opportunity for outreach as well as an amazing time of fellowship and fun.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan bus trips in the spring and/or fall.
    • Investigate and choose plays, concerts, guided tours, etc. that will interest a cross-section of our members and their friends.
    • Arrange for the purchase of tickets.
    • Charter the bus.
    • Advertise to our members via the Proclaimer, PowerPoint announcements, and handouts.

Note:

My goal is to develop programs and activities that will help members grow stronger in their own ministry. My vision is to encourage our members to not only participate in the activities, but to also take the torch and develop their own activities. Through this type of fellowship, our church will continue to grow stronger.

It is important that our members remain active and contribute to the mission of the church. As we spread the Gospel, more souls will be saved and the church will continue to grow.

In 1993, I pulled out a phone book, and Cindy and I prayed that God would lead us to a congregation. I opened that phone book and the first and only church that I called is the Pitman church. We didn't know that day how much God had blessed us, and He still is blessing us. We are truly thankful to be members of this congregation.
