Supporting Scripture:
"From childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  2 Timothy 3:15"
Purpose:
This ministry exists to provide an age-appropriate lesson for children ages three through kindergarten during the sermon time of our worship assemblies on Sunday mornings.
General Description:
Children enter the worship service and remain with their parents through singing and communion. The KFC teacher escorts children from the auditorium to Room 4 between the collection and the sermon. At the conclusion of the worship service upstairs, the KFC teacher retains the children until a parent arrives.
Responsibilities:
- Plan a Biblical, age-appropriate lesson for two thirty-minute sermons each Sunday. This lesson can incorporate videos, puppets, Bible story books, Christian CDs, games, etc.
- Coordinate volunteers for both services.
- First service: Manny Vander Vennen.
- Second service: Tony DeStefano.
- Prepare individual teaching packets for each class and store them in Room 4.
- Coordinate and orient the teaching staff.
- Remind teachers of their KFC duty before their assigned date, since they often sign up weeks in advance and teach infrequently.
- Solicit enough volunteers that adults only teach one time each quarter.
- Monitor the attendance in Kids for Christ to ensure that one teacher can handle the number. Maintain a list of adults and teens who are willing to step in as last-minute assistants.
- Welcome new families and invite their children to participate in KFC.
- Coordinate the teachers and the curriculum during the annual Community Enrichment/VBS series in the summer.
