Supporting Scripture:

"We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing. 2 Thessalonians 1:3"

Purpose:

This ministry exists so that we can learn about each other, stay in touch with each other, and have directions to each others' homes. The main goal of this ministry is to keep the church directory current and updated. Until 2005, the church office handled this job. However, as our church has grown, this task has become dramatically more time-consuming. Therefore, the elders have recently designated this as a new area of responsibility for one of our deacons. Pictures are a way to celebrate each others' lives.

Responsibilities:

• Take pictures of new members and their families
• Update existing photos as needed.
• Obtain the following directory information:
  • Names and birthdays of all family members
  • Indicate who in the family is a member of the church.
  • Address
  • Phone number(s)
  • Directions to their home
  • Family information, written by the individual or family
• Submit the tentative pages to members for approval before they are reproduced.
• Photocopy and punch holes in the approved pages.
• Place an announcement in the Proclaimer that directory pages are ready, and then place them in the auditorium for members to pick up.
• Place photographs of our newest members in key places throughout the building: on the bulletin board in the foyer and on an easel in the fellowship hall.

Note:

I am very happy to serve in my role updating the church directory. The directory is a great way for current members to get to know new members, and for new members to get to know current members. Getting to know each other is an important first step in following God's command to love each other.

  Many in our congregation have mentioned that they use their directory on a regular basis. I am encouraged by these comments, and would also welcome any suggestions you have on how the directory could be made better.

  My family and I are very happy to be members here at the Pitman church. Our walk with God is strengthened regularly through the church's excellent worship, ministry, classes and fellowship. We are especially thankful for the exceptional leadership team God has provided for us here at Pitman.
