Children’s Curriculum
Aaron Pearl

Aaron and Jen Pearl
Supporting Scripture:
"Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16"
Purpose:
This ministry exists to provide Bible-based, age-appropriate classes for children from birth to age twelve during our Bible class times on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. We seek to provide all students with a solid scriptural base in the key concepts of our faith: the love of God, the nature of Christ, grace, baptism, the church, worship, etc. This deacon works closely with our other ministries for children: Children’s Activities and Kids for Christ.
Responsibilities:
- Plan the Bible school curriculum for this entire age group, choosing material that is Bible-based and doctrinally sound. Periodically review the value of the material being taught, with the elders’ input.
- Coordinate the classes each quarter.
- Maintain a list of the names and ages of students in order to facilitate the division of classes.
- Maintain a list of potential teachers.
- Determine how many classes and teachers are needed, based on the number of students at each age level.
- In September of each year, solicit teachers for the following four quarters.
- One month before the beginning of the quarter, provide the incoming teachers with their material.
- Assign classes to specific rooms.
- Educate and equip our teaching staff.
- Oversee the teachers’ supply room and the supply closets in each classroom. Donna Pacentrilli has agreed to purchase miscellaneous supplies and keep them organized. Lori Hernandez maintains the supply closet.
- Maintain and supervise a children’s library of books to be kept in the supply closet.
- Oversee the Hall Monitor position for Sundays and Wednesdays. These adults will help with the following needs:
- Escort latecomers to their classes.
- Oversee the children who leave their classroom.
- Locate parents when they are needed.
- Assist teachers when they have a special need.
- Ascertain that teachers have arrived and that children have not been left unattended.
Note:
I cannot think of anything I would rather do than work with our children. God has commanded us to teach our children His word. Families with young children want and need a church with a good children’s Bible school program. A children’s ministry with the capable teachers that we have plays a big part in attracting new families.
Our world is constantly trying to bombard our children with worldly morals and downplaying the importance of God. I have four daughters. I want them at this congregation in Pitman -- and I want them in Bible class. I, as a parent, thank you, teachers, for teaching my children. I know that all of our parents agree with me.
