Supporting Scripture:

"Whatever your hand finds to do, verily, do it with all your might...  Ecclesiastes 9:10 "

Purpose:

This ministry exists to help the church family present the Word of God in an effective, efficient and contemporary manner. It assists our speakers and song leaders as they communicate during the public assemblies and provides our teachers with the AV equipment they need for their classes. We also seek to enhance our assembly times with appropriate visual aids, illustrations and DVD presentations. These deacons work closely with our ministers, song leaders and deacon in charge of worship. "Don't just let it happen...help make it happen!" is one way to characterize what this area of ministry is all about.

General Description:

Volunteers must go through a training process before they are allowed to operate the systems. Once trained, two people work together during each worship service; one controls the sound and the other controls the PowerPoint slides.

Steve Pierre-Jacques has taken on the lead role in coordinating our AV system, troubleshooting problems, and training volunteers. Matt Downing and Manny Vander Vennen play key roles in inputting and coordinating data.

Responsibilities:

  • Train men, women, and capable teenagers to operate the audio/visual equipment.
    • Assemble a team of about twenty workers who will operate the power point system on a rotating schedule. Assign two workers for each worship service.
    • Protect the worship time of the volunteers by not scheduling them more than once a month.
  • Coordinate PowerPoint with the song leaders and speakers who will utilize it. Input all information for Sunday assemblies into the computer system: songs, sermons, and announcements.
  • Monitor the volume and the clarity of the sound system at all church assemblies.
  • Record the sermon during the second worship service.
  • Record guest speakers and special classes, as requested.
  • Duplicate and distribute CDs of sermons; 1-2 per week, according to requests.
  • Keep batteries in supply for our cordless microphones.
  • Maintain all of the audio/visual equipment owned by the church.
  • Oversee purchases of additional AV equipment as needed.

Note:

The Audio/Visual Team is an essential part of our church family. The team goes mostly unnoticed unless we experience a "technical difficulty," at which time team members trouble shoot as quickly as possible. The staff works behind the scenes to be sure our classroom, worship, and fellowship experiences run smoothly and are appealing to the senses. It is important to state that it is the CONTENT of these experiences that is of paramount importance, and the audio/visual ministry only seeks to enhance the presentation of the content. We are always looking to add to our team people who have the aptitude for, or interest in, the technical nature of this ministry.
