Purpose:

This ministry exists to inform our community and our members about major events such as special guest speakers, outstanding achievements such as mission trips, and developments in our building program. Therefore, this deacon should stay in close contact with our ministers, our office staff, the Reaching Out in Faith campaign leaders, and the deacon who oversees our website.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Reaching Out in Faith Media Team, which includes Janet Betts, Rebekah Lazar, and Robin Steward. This team coordinates all Reaching Out in Faith communication, including regular updates and the foyer bulletin board, to ensure that all materials have a consistent look and theme.
• Explore ways to reach out to our community through all avenues of mass media: the website, cable TV, radio, newspaper, billboards, etc.
• Increase the exposure of our ministers in the media. Advertise their travels, their sermon topics, and special events.
• Advertise the activities of our youth group.
• .Advertise the classes offered on Sunday and Wednesday, so that interested individuals from the community can attend.
• Begin to advertise and promote our 50th anniversary in 2009.
• Be alert to newsworthy congregational activities, including the following:
  • Support given to Parke Place
  • Benevolent work done by our youth group
  • Support for marriages through Home Builders
  • Mission trips
  • Twelve-Step program on Monday nights
  • Fibromyalgia support group
